As we step into the new month, we can use
this energy to start those practices we’ve been putting off. Back in February, my
goal was to begin meditating every day before work no matter what. I was able
to stick to this practice and now I can’t imagine a morning without it.
What really helped me start was guided meditations. I’ve always really
enjoyed guided meditations because they get me in the “zone” to
meditate by myself or with light music. Many guided meditations can be up to an
hour and when you’re just beginning, it’s better to start with a 10- or
20-minute meditation. The list I’ve created below are great beginner meditations
that include time within the meditation of just silence to give you some more
practice of being alone with your thoughts with no guide. Enjoy!
1.) Guided Meditation for Self Love – Lavendaire
Lavendaire has a great YouTube channel full of amazing spiritual resources but her guided meditations are my favorite. This one focuses on self-love and practicing it in your daily life. She talks quickly so if you’ve struggled with calming your mind or patience in meditation, she goes faster than most.
2.) 5-Minute Guided Meditation, Fear Based Ego – This Ethereal Life
This meditation is a great quick meditation to begin your practice. Michaela who guides you has an amazing voice and reads from a book in the beginning which I like. I also think she gives a great amount of time of silence in the middle of the meditation.

3.) Miraculous Journey: A Guided Meditation – Deepak Chopra
Deepak Chopra can sometimes shy beginners away because of his complex meditations and deep understanding of the self can come off as confusing as first. However, he has some great beginner meditations on YouTube that I think you will love. If you like this then check out his Spotify page. Last year, he was one of my top artists of the year because I love his work so much!
4.) Guided Meditation for Positive Energy, Relaxation, Peace – Lavendaire
This Lavendaire meditation is great for beginners because she focuses a lot on muscle relaxation. This may attract you if you’ve been feeling stressed and normally like exercising or moving to relieve your stress. This meditation is also 20 minutes long so it’s a little longer but very worth it.
5.) I Can Love You as You Are – Purely Being Guided Meditations
If you have a Spotify, I highly recommend Purely Guided. She has a great large collection of meditations from short 5-minute ones to long, complex mediations. I think this one is a great one for beginners. She has a great voice and good background music that keeps things flowing fast. She has extensive descriptions for her meditations so you can look around first before choosing one if you end up liking her style.
If you go through these meditations and none of them are clicking for you, no worries. First, simple giving yourself the time to meditate deserves a pat on the back. Giving yourself time to breathe and relax is a form of self-love. If you having trouble finding time or the headspace to get into meditation, I would recommend not trying to do it with such restrictions like the same place every day or the same time. Sometimes roommates are loud in the morning or sometimes laying in your bed is what feels right. Let yourself do what feels right. I would recommend continue checking out YouTube for more free options, you don’t need to pay for them. Let me know below in the comments if you like this list or any tips that work for you.
