Affirmations For Overwhelmed Women

The overwhelm is temporary, I say to myself. But who’s to say, really? Whilst lost in the heavy fog and feeling the current beneath me, at any moment, ready to be taken in. Who’s to say that it’s going to be okay?

You don’t get it like I do, I say to myself with pity dripping off my thoughts, but knowing deep down I’m not alone. No, not in this world. Millions of women feel the exact same thing. I know it. With my phone always in my hand, shaping the way my fingers age, it doesn’t make me connected to the women around me. Sometimes, the current takes me, and overwhelm seeps too heavy for my hands to hold, bleeding and slippery, my phone slips out of my grasp. Am I letting it take me, I wonder later? Is this just all my fault? How does she do it?

I just need to start, over and over, I just need to begin, and then I’ll be okay, I think. As I climb out across the rocks and escape the stream. My overwhelm is temporary, I’m going to be okay, I say again and again. Maybe?

My breath exhales, I’m awoken by peace, in my bed all alone, where did it all go? Today was easy. I haven’t felt this in a while. Hopefully, tomorrow will be too. I close my laptop for the day and adjust my blinds for the evening. Seeing the sun go down, I try to feel grateful for the beauty for a moment, but I can’t help but see the fog in the distance slithering in as the sun escapes the daylight. The overwhelm is temporary, I say to myself.


I hope these affirmations can provide you with, even just for a moment, a glimmer of hope. 

Amidst the to-do lists, the ‘trying not to try’ to-do lists in our head, I hope these affirmations can help you return to yourself. As women, we are nuanced and dynamic. But never forget we are always capable, whether this week brings you joy, excitement, pride, anxiety, frustration, or immense sadness, or a mix of moments of all of these. These moments are temporary. But together, these emotions are what create the power within you. Let them return you to yourself, back to your power.
