There is so much to love about the month of December! We get the holidays, gorgeous snow, and we get to end the month with a big party. For me, that’s how I think every month should end.
December this year feels special to me because it marks a year of doing affirmations on The Sierra Guide. I had previously done them before but The Sierra Guide was mainly devoted to food and lifestyle content before December 2020.
A lot has changed for me since then. A new job, a new home, a new town, creating an online business, starting therapy again. I think we can all agree, it’s been a year.
Now here in December, I want to focus on making affirmations directly for women now more than ever. I think women as a whole are going through another self-love transformation since the pandemic. Women have always been fighting for their rights and their voice to be heard but since 2020 and the culture change the pandemic left us with, women are becoming increasingly more open to sharing their experiences. It’s becoming more apparent on social media, in books, and on television, that many of us are sharing similar struggles in life regarding men, dating, careers, and raising kids. The world is not like it used to be before 2020 and women are finding their voice and understanding they deserve more in life.
In my Daily Affirmations, December 2021, I want women to find their voice. I want women to remind themselves of how amazing they are in their careers, social lives, motherhood, and how they deserve to be with someone who shows them, unconditional love. Isn’t that what the holidays are all about anyway, love?
Love, Summer Sierra
WHAT’S AN AFFIRMATION?
A positive statement is used to help you overcome negative thoughts and ideas. The message is usually written in the first person and can be long or short sentences. The purpose of affirmations is to develop a habit of positive thinking and self-empowerment.

WHY ARE AFFIRMATIONS IMPORTANT?
Affirmations can help you change your mindset on a difficult idea or situation. They can increase self-esteem, gratitude, and help you overcome loss for example. With all the distractions of the world, affirmations help you remind yourself daily of what is your priority in your personal healing journey.
HOW CAN I USE AFFIRMATIONS?
Affirmations can be used in various ways but the important part is to continuously do them. It’s like working out! One workout will make you feel good but it won’t change your body. You can practice affirmations by reading them out loud, writing them down, or simply having them saved as your lock screen. Interacting with affirmations daily on the topic you choose will improve your life for the better. My recommendation is to get creative with where you feel you will best use them. An example would be to write an affirmation down on a sticky note and hang it on your mirror. Say it every day for a week and then create a new one the following week. It’s all about you.
