Apple & Oats Breakfast Bow
This recipe was inspired by something I saw on Tik Tok, yes I there I said it! Tik tok is kind of fun (and addicting!). I blame the quarantine. My tik tok feed is full of food videos and I can’t deny that I don’t love it. Although, for this recipe, I found it after discovering Whitney Simmons on YouTube (late to the party I know!). She did a video called Testing TikTok Healthy Snack Hacks and this “recipe” was included. I put quotations because there was never a recipe just general directions. I love apples and oats so I started making it every morning doing it a little differently to find what I liked.
INGREDIENTS:
- Apple
- Coconut Oil
- Real Maple Syrup
- Cinnamon
- Quick Oats
- Brown Sugar (optional)
I start by chopping my favorite type of apple into bite size pieces then throw it in a medium frying pan with oil. I’ve used pam, olive oil, and coconut oil and all are fine. You don’t taste the oil at the end.
Next, let that cook for five to seven minutes on medium high. You don’t want your apples soggy at the end (in my opinion) but you do want them a little soft. After five or so minutes add the cinnamon and mix around. Let it cook a little more, go change the laundry, start the coffee, etc.
Then finally you’ll add the maple syrup and oats and stir that in. If the apples soak up the syrup right away, feel free to add a tablespoon of water to make sure the oats get soft.
Finally, once things are looking yummy and your coffee is almost done, add the brown sugar. This is pretty much up to you. I think it tastes like apple pie or an apple crisps dessert when you add brown sugar. I add a little and mix it around right before I serve it. Just adds some sweetness.
I hope you like my Apple & Oats Breakfast Bowl! If you try it, share it with me on social media. Enjoy!
