BACHELOR RECAP: Episode 2

Photo: Eric McCandless/ABC

Week two of the Bachelor has came and went. This week was full of tears, more tears, and lot’s of champaign.

We left off in week one with Hannah and Peter crying backstage on the group date. They continued to cry and weigh out their options which we all sadly knew minimal. As if the sexual tension wasn’t high enough, she decided to sit on his lap. I really thought they were about to just go at it at this point and kick the cameras out but unfortunately they behaved. Finally, Peter ended the intense sexual contact and told her he “needed to get back to the girls.” He cancelled the group date and said he’ll chat with the ladies later on at the cocktail hour. The ladies were pissed but he did what Peter does best, apologize and then makeout with EVERYONE. Sydney gets the “group date” rose.

Then we get to the Rose Ceremony cocktail hour. I’m not sure how we got here either. Kelsey or what the girls call “Mama Bear” (cringe) prepares an old bottle of champagne she’s had and wanted to share with Peter to have a special moment. She puts it over ice and sets up a cute blanket then returns back to the group of girls to complain. Meanwhile, Hannah Ann and Peter sit next down next to the same bottle and consider opening it, not really sure why it’s there in the first place. Kelsey is with the other girls and they are assuring her how great of an idea it is and in the midst of the conversation, they hear a bottle pop and we as the audience see that Hannah Ann and Peter have opened the champaign…. In this moment the champaign crisis begins.

Kelsey burst into tears and begins to freak out. Peter and Hannah Ann have no idea and apologizes when Kelsey storms over. Peter takes her aside and tries to make it better by offering up another bottle of champaign. It seems all better but then he asks if she wants the champagne in a glass and SARCASTICALLY suggests drinking from the bottle. This girl has not taken the hint from the universe that today is NOT her day and says she’ll drink from the bottle because “I’m not a classy b*tch all the time.” And boy does it go terribly. The entire bottle explodes in her face, instantly becoming an internet meme.

She cleans up just enough to go call out Hannah Ann for stealing her bottle of champaign, calling her a fake a** b*tch, and to stop playing the innocent princess card. Hannah repeatedly says she had no idea and that she acknowledges her feelings but there’s no reason to be mean. For once, I agree with Hannah Ann on this one. Meanwhile, Tammy is laughing in the corner about the whole thing. I officially stan Tammy now.

Side note: Madison also gets a framed photo of Peter and his family from their first date last week at some point in this cocktail hour. Like.. you’ve known each other for how long? It’s just strange.

Rose Ceremony finally happens and Lauren (marketing associate), Kylie (entertainment sales), Courtney (cosmetologist) all go home. They were all 26 years old which I thought was interesting. Peter is 28 and his top picks so far, Madison and Hannah Ann are both 23.

They end the night with a toast, which Kelsey refuses to do after Peter asks her, so Hannah Ann takes over like the manipulative girl we all know and (kinda) love.

The next day is another group date. They will be modeling for the Revolve Fashion Show and whoever wins gets free clothes. It was incredibly ironic because most of these girls are future Revolve Influencers anyway so this was great practice for most of them. The producers truly are more thoughtful this season!

We are also reminded before the fashion show by Carson Kressley, “Boyfriends are temporary. Cashmere is forever.”

They all do very cringe things down the runway to impress Peter but it’s pretty entertaining. Victoria F. is crying beforehand because she is “so nervous” and insecure. I really believed her and started to feel bad. She ended up going out there and doing amazing. Not only kissing Peter in the midst of her catwalk but choosing to wear LINGERIE. Like your scared and insecure about the other girls but then do this? I started to see the game she was playing.

She gets second place and the American Girl Doll wins. She’s a model and Revolve definitely wanted to secure that bag. Victoria goes crying to Peter afterwards at the cocktail hour about how her mental health is being affected because she’s so insecure and can’t be herself. Peter OF COURSE takes the bait and says “you can overcome this” like every Bachelor has said the last 24 seasons.

“I just want to be noticed by you”

– Victoria F. after wearing lingerie down a runaway while Peter sat front row.

Then Hannah Ann gets time with Peter and he congratulates her on winning and since winning is a normal occurrence for her she moves right on to what’s really on her mind. “I cried all night long” She confesses to Peter that Kelsey called her a fake b*tch, etc. Peter is not happy with this and the episode ends with previews of Kelsey having a talk with him and him possibly asking her to leave.

Pretty entertaining second episode but the real tea didn’t come until after the show. I learned two major things. First, Madison got caught this week commenting on her own instagram post calling herself genuine and kind or something. She blamed the mistake on her friend who had her account while she was gone for the show and that she accidentally didn’t log out. Yikes! We all know that’s a poor excuse but I’m curious if she’ll ever admit it during AFR.

Then, I found out tea about Victoria who I am starting to think is going to be the villain this season. She modeled for a far right group that advertised “White Lives Matter.” Yeah, major yikes!

I’m looking forward to next week and hoping we get more from the other girls. I wanna know more about thar red head too. I guess we’ll just have to buy some cheap wine and keep our Monday nights free to find out.
