The Best Vegan Cheeseburger Recipe – I’ve always loved getting vegan cheese burgers when I go out to restaurants and was too afraid to try and make it at home. I avoided trying to make homemade patties and would just opt for generic vegan patties at the store that I could find.
Recently, Beyond Meat started selling their patties in grocery stores. I gave them and try was NOT dissapointed. This is my creation of the perfect at-home Vegan Cheese Burger!
Violife Cheddar Cheese or even the Provolone version is BY FAR the best vegan cheese to eat. I cannot preach this enough.
INGREDIENTS:
- Beyond Meat Burger
- Pretzel Buns
- Violife Cheddar Cheese
- Red Onion
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Vegan Mayo
- Ketchup
Begin cooking the Beyond Meat according to the package. It’s super easy to make and I like that they come in patties. It’s crazy how the meat looks like actual meat.
Next, you will want to add the cheese while it’s almost done with a lid on top.
While the “meat” is cooking, chop the onions and tomato. I love doing very thin slices so they don’t fall off the burger as fast. I also like to chop up lettuce to smaller pieces.
Meanwhile, in a separate pan add olive oil to a pan and turn on medium-high. Then add the pretzel buns with a dash of salt. Make sure both sides get evenly cooked. You can also use a vegan butter. You want them crispy but not too crunchy.
Pretzel buns are the best to use for this recipe because they are so soft and full of flavor. I like getting mine at Whole Foods near the baguettes. If you’re trying to treat ‘yo self, buy the pretzel buns!
Finally, while the bun is still warm add the mayo and ketchup to the buns. Then assemble the burger and enjoy!
Sure, it might get messy, but you won’t regret it. It’s so tasty and there are so many ways to customize it. Pair it with your favorite sweet potato tater tots. It’s perfect if you’re hosting a barbecue for vegans on a nice summer day. Pair it with my guacamole and tortilla chips to keep things fresh.

Vegan Cheeseburger Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Beyond Burger Patties
- 2 Pretzel Buns I like the ones at Whole Foods
- 2 slices Violife Cheddar Cheese
- 1/4 cup Sliced Red Onion
- 1/4 cup Lettuce
- 1 tbsp Vegan Mayo I use Vegan Hellmans
- 1 tbsp Ketchup
- 1/4 cup Sliced Tomato
Instructions
- On medium heat, cook Beyond Meat patties for 4 minutes on each side (follow package instructions). When 2 minutes are left add cheese and cover with lid.
- Chop onions, tomatos, and lettuce.
- On medium heat, drizzle a couple drops of olive oil onto pan (or butter!) then put preztel buns in pan. Cook until lightly crispy and warm. Salt lightly if desired.
- Spread mayo on one bun and ketchup on the other. Then lay the cooked patty onto the bun and top with tomato, onions, and lettuce.
- Serve and enjoy!
